The Afters: Live on Forever: music review and giveaway!

live-on-forever-digital-coverThe Afters album, Live on Forever

“We worked on this record for almost two years and over those two years, it was a real season of loss,” Havens recalls. “But in the end, Live on Forever is about moving us to trust God, to stand up against fear. It’s an ‘ante up’ record, an anthem for people’s lives: ‘God you are with me in all this. I’m not alone.’”

Having gone through a lot of disappointments and heartbreaks over the last few years myself, I was blessed by the Live on Forever CD. It is very difficult to go through so much and yet come out with hope. Having read what the Afters have gone through and then to see the resulting music was truly inspirational and a testimony to their own faith.

Musically, this collection contains a good balance of upbeat and slower songs. As a musician myself, I remember a teacher telling me that the instrumentals of a song are important because, without good music, the words of a song are rarely heard. I really enjoyed the instrumentals and the lyrics were insightful and inspiring. Check out the music video links below to hear for yourself. I have also included purchase links as well as links in order to connect with the Afters.

They’re such a good band! I really like “Battles.” It’s my latest favorite from them. I would love to hear the rest of this CD. Thank you for the giveaway!

I love how music can change my focus and help me lift my spirit. I have not heard this CD before, but really like the idea of the variation of music – with both slower and upbeat songs. This sounds perfect to put on when my children or I are facing trials and need to be refreshed. Thank you for the chance!

I am new to your blog but I like how it is easy to navigate! Purple is my favorite. I never heard of this band before and reading how humbling and down to earth their music is makes me a fan already. I’ve been through a lot this year alone. I think what’s interesting is that we live in a generation that screams self love and I completely embody that now. Music is able to connect us all no matter what background we have-that’s the beauty of it.
