The Reunion: Rachael McIntire ~ Great read! Giveaway!

The ReunionThe Reunion written by Rachael McIntire is a compelling Christian fiction that not only tells us a wonderful heartwarming story but teaches us about love, redemption, and Godly values and principles through the lives of two very different families.

From the Reunion website:

Excerpt

Four-year-old Rebecca opened the door further to get a better look. It was then that she noticed a tiny bundle cozily nestled in a wicker basket, the baby’s enormous blue eyes peeking through the folds of its blanket into the equally blue skies of the morning. Rebecca began once again bouncing up and down, clapping her hands together and shouting, “Mommie, she’s here, she’s here! Jesus has sent me my little sister!”

The author, Rachael McIntire , is a homeschool mom who has previously written several books which she had yet to publish until The Reunion.  I was given the pleasure of receiving a copy of this book and found it difficult to put it down until I finished reading it.  The characters, though fictional, are very real and go through situations which shed light on what individuals go through on a daily basis.  Through this story, a window is opened to the lives of two very different families – a Christian family who follows God and relies on His guidance through their day and a secular family who has not yet met Jesus.   On its own, The Reunion is a wonderful story.  Beyond the story itself, the reader is provided with a model example of a Christian family giving us something to live up to as Christians.  Definitely worth sharing with the whole family for believers and non-believers alike.

This novel is ideal for family reading time or for self-reading by anyone ages 10 and up.  I feel it would make a great book to provide your homeschool kids as part of their literature studies.  I plan on having both my kids read it so we can discuss the book in depth.

As a homeschooler, it is a delight to find wholesome  fictional works that go beyond the story itself to teach us lessons and which compel us to think a little more about what we believe and to search our own souls.
