Preparing for the school year
I am starting out planning for our school stuff a little later this year. I have finally prepared my notification papers and now need to send them off. I use a combination of things to organize my year. I have a TOS Homeschool planner, different books and pages I use, and the Homeschool Tracker. Right now I am going through and writing my education objectives.
I have a few books I love to reference: The What Your … Needs to Know series, How to Write a Low Cost/ No Cost Curriculum, and The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling. These are a few of them that I like to look through for ideas.
Since I review materials for the TOS Homeschool Crew, I like to leave space in our plans for review products as well so that makes it tricky sometimes to plan our year.
I like to create a weekly plan for each subject and then look at each subject to see what my goals for the year are for each of my kids. I start off with what math books we will be using since that is the easiest thing to plan. Next I look at each topic I would like to cover and fin what material and books I already have then hopefully I don;t need to buy anything new but if I do I research what may be a good fit for my kids. I like to do at least one unit study on a topic my kids are interested in. This year we are going to explore careers they want ot look into and also do a scrapbooking unit study.
I always tend to veer off course from my original plans but everything always turn out in the end.
