My Review of GoTrybe: Kids Fitness, Wellness, Nutrition
is an online web-based program developed to help kids develop good fitness, wellness and nutrition habits. According to the GoTrybe website “GoTrybe.com is an online fitness and nutrition community that delivers daily fitness, nutrition, wellness, and motivation content to students and teachers across the US.”

GoTrybe has a program for 3 different age groups: zoodoos (K-5th), trybe180(6th-8th), and nextrybe(9th-12th). I really liked that they had separate age groups since it allows for more age appropriate activities and information.
As part of the TOS Homeschool Crew, I received a trial of the trybe180 level for my oldest daughter. She started by creating an avatar and a personal profile and then added some friends who were also members of the program. There are daily activities and quizzes that she can complete in order to earn credits that are used to purchase items in the avatar store. She was able to watch and participate along with fitness videos which were separated out by different categories: warmup, cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility videos. She could also select an overall workout video or create and save her own workouts too. What is nice is that when you mouse-over the various videos you are given information on each one with details like total workout time, intensity level, body parts worked, any equipment needed, in addition to other information.
Here is a view of what that area looks like:

Your child also has access to a forum and blog area which provides your child with even more information and news on health and fitness beyond what they learn from the daily tasks and quizzes.
My daughter enjoyed what she has done so far with this program and we will be considering whether to continue using it after our trial expires. The only thing I felt you may need to consider about this program was how your child would watch the videos and participate with them. If you did not have an ideal setup where you were using the program the most frequently, this may be an issue for you. For us we do not have an easy way to setup a larger viewing area for what we do on the internet, so my daughter mainly had to watch and workout by viewing it from her small laptop screen and from a distance. She said it was difficult to do at times but it was still doable for her.. If you were able to hook your internet to a larger viewing area such as a tv screen that would be the most ideal way to use the video part of this program. On the plus side, you can take this program with you wherever you would have internet access. If you were away on a trip, you could still be involved with the program. I was impressed with the format of the program and what it had to offer and would suggest you check it out for yourself by visiting the GoTrybe website to see all it has to offer to your child. As homeschoolers this would be a good way to have some form of gym and health class available to you as a supplement for your child’s other activities.
You can try it out for free for yourself by entering GETFIT at the signup promotional page, and after that trial, a full year subscription is $19.95.
As always, please check out what my fellow TOS Crew members had to say about GoTrybe by visiting our Crew Blog HERE.
