See The Light: Art class series
Recently our family watched the first DVD of the 9 volume DVD Art Class series by See the Light in order to provide you with a review as a member of the TOS Homeschool Crew. This DVD series contains a total of 36 step-by-step lessons which are taught by Master Artist Pat Knepley.
The DVD I received was the first one of the the series entitled The Basics. In this volume, Pat Knepley teaches 4 separate short lessons (about 10 to 15 minutes long) along with an additional bonus Chalk art lesson presented by Gloria Kohlmann. In lesson 1 Pat Knepley explains what tools are needed for drawing and what you should have available for the lessons themselves. The remaining lessons on the DVD are It All Starts with a Line, Contours & Composition and finally Draw What You See. This first DVD is a very basic introduction to drawing class which is similar to how I have taught beginning art to homeschoolers in my own home. The following pictures are some samples of the artwork my children did while watching the DVD.
The full volume set builds upon previous lessons and integrates art history and Biblical truth throughout each lesson. Pat Knepley is very animated and engaging and keeps the students attention throughout the lessons. It is nice to see step by step instruction which your child can follow along easily with while watching the DVD.
We also viewed a sample DVD which showed a preview of the other lessons within the Art Class series.

Art Class is also available as a monthly subscription for $10 each month. Each month, 4 lessons are unlocked and you have access to all previous levels as well.
