As a homeschooler we have a whole library just in our living room.   We just love books and sometimes we get books and have no clue what we have.  Often I have purchased or were given books and had no idea that we already owned that same book.  Recently we received free from Collectorz, a copy of the Book Collector Pro software in order to review it as a member of the TOS Homeschool Crew.





What is this software you may ask? Well it is basically an inventory software to keep track of your books. For us it was a blessing, because we have so many books and had no way to keep track of them all before receiving Book Collector in our home. After having the software for awhile I still have not finished adding everything. That is how many books we own. You can either enter the books manually by ISBN or LOC code or by scanning the codes in with a scanner such as a CueCat like we did. The software then searches and fills in the information on the book for you. You can also enter info for books that do not have a code and have the software find the book for you that way. The software brings back the following information on your book if available: Title, Author, Publisher, Publication Date, Number of Pages, and Cover Image.

After entering just a portion of my books I was able to identify several books that I had duplicates of in my book collection. I plan on printing out a list of my books in order to identify what books I can use for several of our homeschool projects this year. Also you can use a list like this for insurance purposes. I like the book collector software so well, I am looking into purchasing the movie collector software from Collectorz to manage the inventory of our movies.
