Kinderbach provided me with a limited time of free access to their online website- the KinderBach Learning Center. I received this as part of the TOS Homeschool Crew in order to review their product for them.

In order to use these online music lessons you need a computer with decent internet connection, a printer, and a keyboard. The program is targeted to preschoolers ages 2 through 7 years old. I can say that my almost 7 year old enjoyed the lessons but the material seemed more appropriate for children who are up to 5 years of age. The videos were fun and colorful and the activities fit well within each lesson. You do need to make sure you setup your learning area so that it is conducive to using the program online. We had our laptop set up on a small table beside our keyboard as well as another table on the other side in order for my daughter to be able to work on the coloring pages and activity sheets. I printed off the set of activity pages that I had downloaded from the Kinderbach website and placed them in a folder so that each day’s materials were easily accessible since our laptop does not have a printer attached.

My daughter was able to get a decent introduction to music and some exposure to playing the piano through the lessons we were able to complete. Since my daughter was older, she was hoping to learn more about how to play the piano during each lesson. I think she was a little disappointed because the activities and such were designed with younger kids in mind. The instructor is very enthusiastic and there are characters such as Dodi, Carla, and others all of which represent the various keys of the piano. I think that it is a good program for introducing younger children to music and the piano in general. My daughter was a bit frustrated with some parts of the program because the teacher does not slow down and show proper finger positioning and at times this part of the program went a little too fast to actually pick up parts of those lessons. She did the coloring and activities that went along with each lesson but began to pass through some of them in order to get to the parts where actual piano playing was being shown. This is mainly why I decided that this program was more for younger children. It did however give my daughter a feel for the piano to where she knows that she would like to move on to taking piano lessons.

Afterwards, if you are interested in seeing whether this program would be a good fit for your child, you can get free access to the first 2 weeks of lessons at the Kinderbach website by signing up at http://www.kinderbach.com/Learn/signin.html
Online access to the lessons is available for $7.99 per month or you can choose to select a DVD version. You can check out their pricing online at the Kinderbach website.
I felt that it would be a good introductory music program for preschoolers since it was very fun and engaging for that age group. My daughters were just too old to be able to appreciate the approach taken in this program. My youngest did look forward to it nonetheless. So I would suggest trying out their free lessons in order to decide whether this program would be for your children.
