TOS Homeschool Crew Review: Sue Patrick’s Workbox System

Have you heard of workboxes? I admit to not having heard too much about them before receiving a complimentary Sue Patrick‘s Workbox System User’s Guide Ebook. In a nut shell it is a system of organization for your homeschool that was developed by Sue Patrick. According to Sue Patrick her system has two components. “The first component teaches you how to optimize the benefits of homeschooling. ” Secondly, it “is the physical structure of Sue Patrick’s Workbox System SM which will allow you to teach your child more effectively, and at the same time help you to better organize your school day. ”
Ok that being said are you interested in learning more? Do you feel unorganized and that you just are not getting through a homeschool day without you or your kids feeling frustrated? Well maybe Sue Patrick’s system may be for you.
In her book, Sue Patrick’s Workbox System User’s Guide, you will find the following information in its chapters: the Benefits of Homeschooling, How We Teach and Train, What the Workbox System is, Who the System is for, How a Day Works, Curriculum and Material, Breaking Down Curriculum for Success, Life Skill Foundations, the built in Discipline of the Workbox System, Problem Solving and Specialization of Your Child’s Education, Family Dynamics and Homeschooling, and Tips and Tricks and Problem Solving.
Sue Patrick does ask that you attempt her methods according to what she has outlined in her book before attempting to try things your way. She believes that how she has been recommending to implement it is the way you will get the most benefits out of her system. She developed this system out of needs that arose in their own homeschooling of her child diagnosed with Autism. However, she claims that her system works for all homeschoolers not only those who have special needs.
Instead of attempting to describe her system to you I suggest you go to a video at Sue Patrick’s website
Ideally, this system is how I would like our homeschooling to work. Setting up an environment where the day is organized and ready at the start of each day, setting it up so my kids know exactly what is to be done and when sounds perfect. To be honest I did attempt to use her system her way at first. However, I confess that physically it was not feasible since we do not have the space in our home set aside for a school area. I just could not find room for a rack of workboxes and an area for each child to work at as well as learning stations. I would encourage you to try ii though if this is something that is doable for you. The concepts and structure of her system appear to be good and I do not want you to go away from my review thinking of it any otherwise. For us I had to go ahead and tweak the system of hers in order for it to work better for our family and our home. Even though we do not do it exactly the way that Sue Patrick designed it, we did get benefits from it doing it a little more our way. It helps you to stay more focused on your school day and help your kids to get through their day more effectively.
I recommend that you visit the Sue Patrick website yourself and see what she has to offer. Also when you purchase her book you get access to downloads that will help you in setting up this system in your home. She also has an option to get consulting from her if needed.
