TOS Magazine’s 2009 Homeschool Planner

I recently received the e-book, The 2009 Schoolhouse Planner, to review from TOS Magazine’s Schoolhouse Store. I admit I am always skeptical of paper planners because most have been made up of forms that I find I can either make up for myself or that I just cannot find a use for in my homeschooling. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I started glancing through the pages of this planner. Most planners are written for traditional classroom teachers but this planner is designed with homeschoolers in mind. Not only can you find the traditional planning forms found in most planners but there are also household forms that you can use for your personal tasks such as grocery and menu planning, car maintenance repair schedules, garden planning, address book, party planning to only name a few. Also within its 375 pages there are articles, recipes, resource list suggestions and links, and educational charts. There is just so much contained within these pages! Check out the planner’s description straight from the Schoolhouse Store. If you are looking for a homeschool planner then this one is definitely worth purchasing for the price of $39.00.
After I received my planner and browsed its contents, I immediately printed off the pages that I thought would be most useful for my homeschool and household planning. I also printed off the articles and resource sheets that I thought would be useful to me for regular use. I love the recipes included and have already tried out one of them for my family. My kids loved making their own individual pizzas using the Dewey’s pizza crust recipe and asked to have them once a month.
I hole-punched the pages that I printed and put them in a 3 ring binder. To save money I use binders that I receive for free from the freecycle lists that I belong to. The pages that I do not need to write on such as the Common Greek and Common Latin root pages, and others like these, I will put in plastic sheet protectors. My kids keep their own binders of their school work and resources and I plan on giving them some pages from the planner as well for their own reference and use. I know there are things that I do not need to reference now such as the article about Getting Into College, but I know that it will be there when I need it in the future. I believe every homeschooler will find the right form for whatever their homeschool needs and schooling style. Again I believe that the 2009 Schoolhouse Planner is an e-book that every homeschool should at least look into for their own use. Don’t take my word for it, go to the Schoolhouse Store and check it out for yourself.
